Text: Ave verum corpus

Latin: Ave verum corpus natum de Maria virgine:
Vere passum, immolatum in cruce pro homine.
Cuius latus perforatum fluxit aqua et sanguine:
Esto nobis praegustatum in mortis examine.
O Jesu dulcis! O Jesu pie! O Jesu fili Mariae.

English Translation: Hail true body, born of the virgin Mary:
truly you died, sacrificed on the cross for mankind.
From whose pierced flank flowed water and blood:
behold, he was tested for us in the trial of death.
Sweet Jesus! Holy Jesus! Jesus, son of Mary.

  1. I ENJOYED THIS REDENTION OF MOZART’S “AVE VERUM CORPUS”
Listened to many but this its the MOST soothing, calm, pure religious feeling to the hilt.
The LATIN version is the BEST for me.
    Because I am “old” school!!
    And a R. C. too!!
Its one of the MANY EASTER HYMNS I LIKE ALOT.

    • I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope you’ll also enjoy more of the music I’ve posted here. From one ‘old school’ R.C. to another – Enjoy :-).
