Henry Purcell (1659-1695): An Evening Hymn ‘Now that the sun’

I wrote about Purcell’s ‘Evening Hymn’ here : Henry Purcell (1659-1695) Now that the sun hath veiled his light ‘An Evening Hymn’ – YouTube | Saturday Chorale it’s a jewel-like piece of music and utterly different from most of his religious compositions. Of all the performances of it that I’ve heard the one given by Eamonn O’Dwyer that you can hear in that posting remains the best, but this one given by Philippe Jaroussky, Andreas Scholl, and  Ensemble Artaserse at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées December 11th  2010 and broadcast by France Musique on January 3rd 2011 isn’t half bad. Enjoy :-).
