Alleluia (Exsultate, jubilate) – Aksel Rykkvin (boy soprano) – Stephen Hicks (piano) – Sept. 2015

Treble Aksel Johannes Skramstad Rykkvin sings "Alleluia" from "Exsultate, jubilate" (W.A.Mozart) during the opening concert of Røros Organ Festival 2015. Accompanist: festival director and cantor Stephen Hicks. Sept. 21th, 2015, Røros Church.
Aksel is a boy soloist with the Children’s Chorus of the Norwegian National Opera ("Barnekoret ved Den Norske Opera & Ballett") and Oslo Cathedral Boys’ Choir ("Oslo Domkirkes Guttekor"). Voice teachers: Marianne Willumsen Lewis and Helene Haarr. Aksel is also a student at music grammar school "Musikk på Majorstuen".

I’m following this wonderful Norwegian treble’s career with great interest – he has a purity of tone and sureness of vocal control that makes his singing a pleasure to listen to and testifies not only to the presence of talent but to a lot of very hard work to develop it. Enjoy :-).

  1. Recently, the USA television show Hannibal opened with a boy soloist performance of Mozart’s Alleluia (Exsultate, jubilate). Could you tell me if it was performed by Aksel Rykkvin? It sounds very much like this performance with a piano accompaniment. The performance is on YouTube at

Any information including whether Aksel has CDs/DVDs of this performance and whether he plans to perform in the USA in the future would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    • Not sung by Aksel Rykkvin so far as I know although I agree it sounds a bit like him. As for information about Aksel the best source is his website which is maintained by his father. You’ll find it here: He’s trying to raise funding for a CD at present.
