William Byrd (±1539-1623): Haec dies a3

Byrd’s Easter motets bubble over with joy and happiness. Haec dies is a three part setting of the Easter Antiphon, that takes its text from Psalm 24 and was first published in Vol 3 of the 1605 Gradualia. Enjoy :-).

William Byrd (±1539-1623): Haec dies – Alleluia Pascha nostrum

Haec dies quam fecit Dominus: exultemus et laetemur in ea.
Confitemini Domino quoniam bonus, quoniam in saeculum misericordia ejus, alleluia.

This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Give praise unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. Alleluia, alleluia.

Performers: The Cardinall’s Musick conducted by Andrew Carwood
