William Byrd (±1539-1623): All in a garden green

Byrd wrote a set of six variations on All in a Garden Green they’re to be found in My Lady Nevell’s Book of 1591 but I suspect they were written a fair bit earlier than that. Byrd chose to use a fixed harmonic setting thereby giving him the freedom to let his imagine run free in the polyphonic writing and his sense of fun rub free in how he continually embellishes the melody. Enjoy :-).
